Course Objectives | Art, culture, and literature abound with references to classical myths. Ancient cultures invented gods, heroes, and other supernatural creatures to attempt to understand the world better. This course introduces students to major classical Greek, Celtic, and Norse myths more extensively, but it also glimpses into Japanese, Hindu, Chinese, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian mythologies. Since classical mythology concepts enter and affect different fields, the knowledge of myths gained through this course will, amongst other benefits, aid one's understanding of certain words and phrases in language, interpreting works of art, and grasping the origins of specific psychological concepts. | |||||||||
